General

Companies have been left in the dark over planning for Brexit amid an "information void", a leading business group has warned. The Institute of Directors (IOD) has called on the government to speed up guidance on what companies should expect if no deal on leaving the EU is reached

Haines Watts Director David Fort has called for politicians and businesses to make the most of the Northern Powerhouse initiative and develop more autonomy from central Government to support growth of the economy in the North.

A recent survey by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has revealed that small businesses are finding it more increasingly expensive to raise finance This is now even more of a concern given the recent rise in interest rates.

Leeds Council leader Judith Blake commented on the lack of assurance over plans to fix the recent Network Rail timetable chaos, saying that it was “disturbing” that neither they nor the transport operators were able to provide reassurance that their plans to improve the “currently abysmal service levels” would deliver the promised network improvements.
