Football fever together with the summer heatwave swept the nation in July and with the England team making it far further in the tournament than was ever expected, it could have helped the UK economy recover from its slowdown.

Leeds has made it onto the final shortlist for Channel 4's new national headquarters. The broadcaster has announced that Leeds, Birmingham and Manchester are still in contention and will enter the final round of negotiations.

One of our clients Leeds Children's Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF) recently celebrated raising over half a million pounds to invest in its new heart theatre in Leeds. The 'Keeping The Beat' campaign was launched two years ago and has since received overwhelming support.

CHSF have also now moved into their new home in Leeds - retired cricket umpire and CHSF ambassador Dickie Bird was there to officially open the new office!

Tax

Here's an interesting article - and maybe a controversial one?! Ministers are considering a  “retirement levy” which would mean taxpayers paying a lump sum to the Government to help meet the increasing costs of residential and social care in later years.

The proposal is that retirees would make a one-off payment into a ‘national care fund’ which help meet the cost of their stay in residential homes.
