Your training will be overseen by the ICAEW and AAT who will provide you with college tuition, skills and development days, and exam practice throughout the duration of your course.
You will also receive experience throughout the various service lines of the business, for example; Audit, Bookkeeping, Accounts & Business Services, and Tax so you can decide at the end of your course so you can determine if you would like to progress in a certain specialism.
An apprenticeship is a great opportunity to earn a salary at the same time as gaining qualifications. You also won’t have to worry about any student loans for years to come, and can concentrate on saving for your future.

Once you have passed your exams, completing your apprenticeship, you will be a fully qualified chartered accountant having gained ACA / AAT qualification.
At this stage, you will have an opportunity to discuss your future career development with your line manager and determine what further training may be needed to put you on your path to success.

Conor started his accounting career after being released from a football club in 2012. He joined Haines Watts back in 2016 and since then has progressed through the firm from Accounts and Audit Junior to Director whilst completing the ACA qualification back in early 2019.
Sophia attended St Brendan’s College and left aged 18 and came to work here at Haines Watts in 2016. She did a lot of research before making her decision – over the benefits of practical experience versus university qualifications.
Oliver joined Haines Watts back in 2019 and is now exam qualified after passing his final ICAEW exam. Oliver's thoughts on his development: "It’s been the quickest possible route, sitting my exams while concurrently gaining professional experience."
Amaya joined Haines Watts as an apprentice in September 2022 after deciding to go to St Brendan’s and study law, accounting and politics. She sees an apprenticeship as a great opportunity to get on in professional life quickly and get rewarded with good pay and responsibility from an early age.
