Charity Fraud Awareness Week 2022 (17 – 21 October)

Sectors:

Charity and Not for profit

Services:

Supporting our Voluntary, Community & Social Enterprise Sector

The 2022 Charity Fraud Awareness Week runs from 17 to 21 October 2022

Now in its seventh year, Charity Fraud Awareness Week is an award-winning campaign, run by a partnership of charities, regulators, representatives, umbrella bodies and other not-for-profit stakeholders, across the world.

Its aim is to bring together the third sector to share knowledge, expertise, and good practice in fraud prevention, at a time when many in the sector continue to remain susceptible to fraud and cybercrime.

#StopCharityFraud reminds us that:
  • Criminals don't care if you're a charity. Make sure your fraud defences are up to scratch.

  • Did you know that fraud often starts with an email? Get to recognise the signs.

  • Don't let your data fall into the wrong hands. Basic cyber security can make a difference.

  • Don't make it easy for criminals, avoid oversharing online.

  • Awareness is key. Get your staff and volunteers involved today. Take the fraud pledge to show what you are doing to manage the risk of fraud and protect your charity's assets.

You can use the free online resources on preventcharityfraud.org.uk to understand the risks and get the tools to better protect your charity from fraud and cybercrime.
