Bringing out the golf clubs in support of charity

For the third year in a row, accountancy firm Haines Watts Swindon are sponsoring a charity golf day at Wrag Barn Golf Club to raise funds for Hft which supports people with learning disabilities.

Not only has Haines Watts sponsored the event and donated prizes for the winning teams on the day, but they have also entered a team for the golf day which takes place at Wrag Barn, Shrivenham Road, Highworth on Friday 9th June.

Funds raised from the charity golf day will be donated to Hft, which provides a range of services to those with learning disabilities across England and Wales. The charity pioneers the idea that adults with learning disabilities have the right to choices about how they live to enable them to lead the best life possible, including supported independent living.

Martin Gurney, Partner at Haines Watts, said “We fully support the mission and values of Hft. Their dedication to supporting their clients is admirable and we are glad we can partner with them and Wrag Barn to truly make a difference.”

This charity is very close to the hearts of those who support the annual fundraising event, including Wrag Barn directors Tim and Verity Manners and Club members Rosalind and Christopher Cliff.

Martin continued “having raised £11,000 at last year’s event, we are looking to exceed this amount this year and would encourage anyone who enjoys a good round of golf to sign up and enjoy the day whilst giving to a good cause.”

Now in its 33rd year, Wrag Barn’s fundraising events for Hft are estimated to have raised more than £200,000. Golfers enjoy a round of golf across 18 holes, brunch and they also take part in an auction and raffle after dinner.
