Business Services Accountant

Job Profile

Our vacancy is within the Business Services department, fundamentally there are 3 components to the role:

• Bookkeeping
• VAT returns
• Management Accounts

The team also provide accountancy software setups for clients and provide software training and support (usually Xero software).

A detailed breakdown of each area is shown below, applicants do not need to have experience in every area as training will be given, but existing experience is an advantage.

The ideal candidate would either be studying for their AAT qualification or have already gained the qualification.

Full or part time considered, although full time or almost full time preferred.

Bookkeeping

• Use of software such as Xero, Sage, Quickbooks etc.
• Knowledge of double entry bookkeeping.
• Input of invoices (customer and supplier ledger).
• Bank Reconciliation.
• Digital recognition software such as HubDoc, Auto Entry.
• Ability to run reports to assist in bookkeeping queries, such as aged debtor and creditor reports.
• Customer and Supplier Reconciliation.
• Preparing and entering journals.

VAT returns

• Produce a VAT return for our clients that use our in-house bookkeeping service.
• Review and finalise.
• Or review and finalise a VAT return for our clients that maintain their own bookkeeping.
• Awareness of VAT treatments to include DRC – Domestic Reverse Charges.
• Awareness of the meaning and use of different VAT rates and tax codes.

Management Accounts

• Assistance of the preparation of monthly or quarterly management accounts.
• Reconciliation of control accounts, such as VAT, PAYE, wages etc.
• Analytical review of a P & L report.
• Produce reports from Xero, sage or by spreadsheet.

There is a requirement to deliver information to and communicate with clients in a timely and effective manner whilst assisting the Seniors, Managers and Directors with ad-hoc project work.
