Over 130 guests attended our Haines Watts Charity Ball in aid of Help for Heroes at Lyde Arundel on Saturday 21 September 2013.

We were so blessed with the weather, arriving in glorious sunshine, guests sipped their pre dinner drinks on the lawn beside the lake, whilst listening to the sounds of Hereford Cathedral School’s jazz band and being entertained by the magician Sonny Pennington.

We all enjoyed an excellent three course dinner provided by A2Zest caterers was followed by a raffle and auction, run by Richard Binnersley of Brightwells, in aid of the charity before guests danced the night away to the sounds of The Spitfires.

I have to say a big thanks also to all the people who donated auction prizes included:

  • 18ct white gold and diamond Gucci earrings donated by Hereford Gold
  • Rugby ball signed by the Worcester Warriors squad donated by Worcester Warriors
  • Use of an Audi TT for a weekend donated by South Hereford Audi
  • 2 Club Wembley tickets to an event at Wembley Stadium donated by Harrison Clark Rickerbys
  • Parker Knoll chair donated by Unique Interiors

I have been genuinely overwhelmed by the generosity of local businesses in Hereford who very kindly donated goods and services in support of this event. It just goes to show the superb range and quality of businesses we have here in Herefordshire and I would like to say a very big “thank you” to every one who supported us. Without their support the Ball would not have been possible. All of our guests were wonderful and donated generously. An enjoyable time was had by all.

Proceeds for the charity were increased further by Barclays Bank plc pledging matched funding against the monies raised from the sale of raffle tickets.

With Hereford’s close links to the military, many great businesses helped us to support Help for Heroes as they do such a fantastic job helping wounded service men and women
and their families.

In total the Ball raised £5,598.52 for Help for Heroes, a very worthwhile charity
which is particularly relevant locally given the number of service men and
women based in our area.
