Landlord and Investor Event
On Tuesday evening Haines Watts along with Parsons Estate Agent and Yellow Brick Mortgages, hosted a Landlord &Investor evening at the Park Hotel in Diss. The event was a great success with 55 landlord and prospective landlords attending.
Kevin Parsons from Parsons Estate Agent gave a presentation on being a legally complaint landlord and Greg Marcham from Yellow Brick Mortgages spoke about buy to let mortgages, how to get help and whats available.
Making Tax Digital
Haines Watts Regional Managing Partner Matthew Neale took the stage to give a presentation on Tax tips and the impending Making Tax Digital.
Making Tax Digital could affect landlords from April 2019 depending on individual circumstances but that will be compulsory for all landlords from 2020.
The presentation covered what to expect and what you need to do to prepare for MTD as a landlord.
Landlord Tax Tips
As well as covering MTD, Matthew spoke about keeping digital records, quarterly reporting and Year End declarations.
Matthews presentation also covered areas specific to Landlords, such as the current deduction interest rates, tax reliefs available, stamp duty, wear and tear allowance and the advantage or disadvantage of running your properties as a Ltd company.
At the end of the evening there was a chance to ask each of the experts questions and the opportunity to chat further on an individual basis with the representatives of Parsons, Yellow Brick and Haines Watts.
Overall the event was a great success:
“Its really good to know we have property accountant experts so locally” – Prospective Investor
“A very worthwhile and informative event and great opportunity to attend something that’s landlord specific so local” – Landlord
“ Our Landlords evening was well supported by a variation of new and experienced landlords, as well as prospective landlords looking to get into the market. It was well received in particular the legislation section which covered both existing and new laws.”
