Best Companies Awards 2021

The HAINES WATTS West Midlands offices have been named one of the Midlands top 100 companies to work for by Best Companies after investing in staff well-being, culture development and mindfulness support during the pandemic.

The accolade sees our regional offices move into the top 70 for the first time and comes after securing the prized one-star accreditation for employee engagement from Best Companies. According to Best Companies, the 1-Star accreditation shows 'very good' levels of workplace engagement.

Over the past 12 months, the offices have participated in a number of activities to help support colleagues’ welfare, such as a series of mindfulness, yoga, and stress awareness training sessions.

Haines Watts Birmingham Managing Partner and Group Chairman Darren Holdway said:

“We are delighted to have been named as one of the top 100 companies to work for in the Midlands. We have always prided ourselves on employee engagement and that has become more important than ever since the start of the pandemic.”

“We have made major investments into our people, culture and support systems, ensuring Haines Watts provides a safe and positive environment in which our staff can flourish.”

Worcester Partner James Howard also commented:

“It is brilliant to be acknowledged for our continued efforts in ensuring that Haines Watts is a good place for our employees to work. We recently moved offices in Worcester into a new modern open plan office to encourage collaboration and engagement.”

“We recognise the importance after working from home during 2020. We have created a space in which our employees want to return to whilst still offering the flexibility of working from home if needed.”

“During the pandemic, it was critically important to us to ensure that our trainees maintained the high standard of training and mentoring and ensured that this was kept up whether in the office or whilst working from home”

The past 12 months has seen a significant average wage increase across the board, while staff turnover dropped by 30% compared to the previous year. The business has also continued to protect the workforce throughout the pandemic and continued to drive our apprenticeship programme.

In addition, a large cohort completed managers’ skills courses, leadership development programmes, and a number of senior people are currently participating in the executive leadership development programme.

Jonathan Austin, CEO of Best Companies commented: “I would like to congratulate Haines Watts on its achievement. Best Companies has been producing the accreditation standard since 2006 to acknowledge excellence in the workplace. Organisations like Haines Watts have continued to focus on their employees and have been rewarded with an engaged workforce who tell us that this is the best company to work for.”
