All in a good cause

A regional cancer charity is set to be better off, thanks to the efforts of a leading Cumbrian accountancy practice.

RF Miller & Co, with offices in Barrow and Ulverston, are staging a charity golf day at Ulverston Golf Club on Monday June 25 2012. All proceeds will be in aid of the Preston-based Rosemere Cancer Foundation, whose work covers North Lancashire South Cumbria and the Lake District.

Entries from teams of four are invited to compete, with prizes available for winning teams, best individual score, nearest the pin and longest drive. The event will be crowned with an evening dinner, prize presentation and entertainment – ‘An Audience with Norman Prince.’

Ex BBC Radio presenter and former frontman of popular folk group, The Hoghton Weavers, Norman Prince will host the day on behalf of RF Miller & Co, MC the evening, the charity raffle and present his own unique brand of stand-up comedy.

An enthusiastic golfer himself , Prince is also a patron of Rosemere Golfers Against Cancer who are supporting the event, along with RF Miller & Co’s parent company Haines Watts Chartered Accountants.

Prince explained; “It’s our first time at Ulverston, I’m sure it will be a great success.  This is such an important cause, we are always delighted to lend our services to these events. Apart from the significant fundraising, they are always great fun!”

On behalf of organisers RF Miller & Co, partner Elaine Harris commented: “We are all really looking forward to staging our first corporate charity golf day at Ulverston Golf Club. It promises to be a great event with some superb entertainment in the evening, but above all, we are raising money for a fantastic cause, the work of Rosemere Cancer Foundation.”

Tee times are available from 11.30am until 2pm, entry fee is £200 for teams of four inclusive of pre-competition breakfast, evening dinner and entertainment.
