Hair today, gone tomorrow

A local children’s charity is set to be much better off thanks to the hair-raising efforts of a trio of brave accountants from Haines Watts, Leyland.

Richard Carter, Tax Senior, Mark Croasdale, Audit Manager and Mark Tunstall, Director of HW Technology have agreed to have their legs waxed from the knees down.

The intrepid threesome are seeking sponsorship, hoping to raise hundreds of pounds to support Derian House Children’s Hospice.

Mark Croasdale explained: “The actual waxing will take place in the Haines Watts boardroom in September. It seemed a long way off when I agreed to do it, I’m not so sure now. Derian House is our company charity for 2012, it’s a worthy cause, so hopefully the pain will be over quickly.”

The Three Waxed Men have set up a webpage to enable potential donors to pledge and Gift Aid online. The site is www.justgiving.com/HainesWattsPrestonLegWax where sums of money are transferred directly to Derian House. Alternatively, donations can be dropped off at the Haines Watts offices at 120-124 Towngate, Leyland.

Local beautician and depilation specialist Jo-Anne Glease, of Beautylicious Beauty Salon in Leyland, has been appointed to apply the eye-watering wax. Meanwhile, the number-crunchers are cracking on with the fundraising, determined not to dwell on the pain.

Mark added: “We have no idea how much we might raise, the dream is to reach four figures, which would be fantastic. There’s even talk of a ‘YouTube video’ being set up so all the kind people can see their reward for donating. Again, I’m not so sure about that!”
