Paul qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1972 and went to work for a global accountancy firm in their Paris office. After three years in the profession he moved into industry as Financial Director of the European Arm of a Major US Medical company. He moved back to the UK in 1984 to start his own accountancy practice and joined with Haines Watts in 2002.
Paul greatly enjoys assisting the owners of small to medium businesses, helping them to realise their own goals. To strengthen this Paul undertook a two year course at the University of East Anglia where he obtained a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) in 1997. He is also a member of the Institute of Management Consultants.
As Senior Partner at HW, Paul uses his knowledge and experience to ensure that all offices maintain high service levels and that each office takes advantage of the latest technological and financial developments giving a solid base to ensure we provide successful strategies for all clients.
Paul is an experienced skier and is currently undertaking his Coastal Skipper qualification.

Matthew has been with the firm for over 15 years, qualifying in 2001 and joining the partnership in 2003. Matthew is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Association of Chartered Accountants and has a strong background in accounting systems, management accounts and provision of the firms auditing services.
Matthews enjoys acting for the owners of small and medium sized businesses, assisting them in all areas of accountancy, business and tax advice.
Matthew is also increasingly involved in developing the practice in and around East Anglia to ensure that the firms clients have access to local offices and staff as and when required.
Matthew enjoys riding his motorbike in competitions when time permits!

Philip started his accountancy career with a major regional firm spending twenty years in the seaside town of Great Yarmouth. He has experience of a wide and diverse range of businesses from local through national to international. He uses his experience to help business owners to enjoy their businesses and achieve their business and personal goals.
Outside of work Philip devotes his time to voluntary work for a growing worldwide charity, and his family.

Stephen graduated from Aberystwyth University in 2001 with an Honours degree in Business Economics.
He joined Haines Watts the same year. In 2004 he qualified with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and achieved FCCA status in 2009. He helped found the Norwich office as partner in 2008.
Stephen is dedicated to helping owner managed businesses run as efficiently as possible, and ensuring HW offers a first class, personal service. He is passionate about technology and oversees the IT in the region, ensuring HW is always using the best systems available to deliver efficiency and quality.
Stephen enjoys cycling and visits the gym regularly, but his love is snowboarding.

David joined Haines Watts in 2002 after previously being employed in other local accountancy practices. He has spent the majority of his career working in the profession apart from two spells when he was employed in industry, gaining experience from the "other side".
David has his own portfolio of sole trader, partnership and small family owned company clients for whom he uses his many years of experience dealing with their accounting and taxation affairs.
He is a devoted Norwich City fan, and is now celebrating his 50th season of supporting the Canaries on their return to the Premier League. David likes to keep fit playing squash and tennis and enjoys country walks.

James has been working for Philip Chapman since March 2002 and they both joined Haines Watts in July 2008. James qualified as a member of the Association of Tax Technicians in January 2008.
James works with a selection of our clients including sole traders, partnerships and small companies, dealing with their accounting and taxation affairs.
James is also a Combat Medic within the Territorial Army, which takes up a lot of his spare time! When he’s not away with the Army he enjoys spending time with his daughter, riding his motorcycle and enjoying outdoor activities.
