Peter Bancroft (FCA) - Managing Partner
Peter joined Haines Watts in 1982 shortly after qualifying and opened the Leeds office in 1989. He has overseen the growth from just 4 staff to approaching 40 and the creation of some of the best specialist departments in Yorkshire.
He also has extensive experience in dealing with all aspects of growing owner-managed businesses.
Terry Parkinson (AIIT) - VAT Consultant
Terry has more than 30 years experience as a VAT specialist and has been with Haines Watts since 1989, prior to which he spent 14 years as a Senior VAT Officer for HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).
He has particular expertise in negotiating with HMRC on the practical application of VAT regulations and interpretations, including property transactions, partial exemption, international issues and VAT special schemes.Terry has also recently successfully negotiated significant refunds for a number of major UK catering operators.
Peter Smallwood (AIIT) - VAT Partner
Peter has more than twenty years experience as a VAT specialist and has an energetic and practical approach when it comes to advising his clients. He has been with HW for the past 4 years and is a specialist in VAT appeals and disputes, regularly winning appeals and claiming costs from HMRC. Peter has also recently successfully negotiated significant refunds for a number of major UK catering operators.
Alan Moore (FCA, MBA) - Tax Partner
Alan Moore has extensive knowledge of corporate and personal taxation. He has been with Haines Watts for 6 years, prior to which he worked for Big 4 firms for 13 years.
Alan is also a member of the firm's technical review panel, carrying out second partner review of tax planning projects, and can advise on all aspects of tax planning including group and share reorganisations, transfer pricing and tax restructuring issues.
Philip Caine (FCA CTA) - Director of Tax Planning Services
Philip has been a qualified chartered accountant for 15 years and a qualified chartered tax advisor for 11 years, working at partner level since 1998.
His focus is on tax planning in respect of transactions, structures and compliance, with the aim of mitigating tax clients may incur on the purchase, ownership, management and disposal of property and businesses.
Miles Stanyard (ACA, CTA) - Director of Corporate Finance
Miles has a wealth of experience in the Corporate Finance market in a number of capacities including adviser, venture capital investor and also as finance director of various companies making acquisitions and disposals, giving him a deep insight into the issues for successful transactions.
He joined Haines Watts in Leeds in 2007 having most recently been Managing Director of the fund management activities of Partnership Investment Finance, focussing on funding growing business in the Yorkshire region.
James Sutton (ACA) - General Practice Partner
James joined the firm in 2001 and is directly responsible for the Haines Watts in Leeds audit function, delivering high quailty audits to strict timescales.
His area of expertise is general practice and he has developed excellent relationships with Haines Watts clients, providing advice and assistance on a wide range of issues.
Stefan Palenski (Dip PFS CFP) - Financial Services consultant
Stefan recently joined the firm to head up HW Financial Services Ltd in Leeds, previously working as a senior consultant at Yorkshire Investment Group.

Jacquie Leake - Head of Business Advisory Services
Jacquie recently joined Haines Watts and has expertise in all aspects of corporate finance, particularly in business and financial planning and fund raising.
Her previous role was as a business adviser at Business Link York and North Yorkshire, where she had specific responsibility for fund raising and assisting businesses to become investment ready. Prior to this Jacquie was client service manager for the insolvency and business recovery division of PwC.
George Astle (ATT, MAAT) - Accounts & Tax Manager
George started with HW as an accounts and tax trainee when Leeds office was first opened in 1989. He subsequently worked as a senior for a number of years before becoming responsible for Business Services. He currently deals predominantly with tax and compliance work for individuals and SMEs, but his team also provide other services including company formation, payroll processing and company secretarial services.
Mike Wilford (MCIM) - Business Development Manager
Mike worked originally in professional practice with Armitage & Norton (KPMG) and then in industry, most recently as regional accountant with McLarens Toplis Loss Adjusters, before joining Haines Watts in 2001.
Mike is responsible for marketing and business development for Haines Watts Yorkshire & Humber offices and has successfully completed the Professional Diploma in Marketing.
