Haines Watts Humber launches tax and business advice surgery
Leading local accountancy and business advisory firm, Haines Watts, has launched a new surgery at its offices in Grimsby and Scunthorpe, offering free consultations for both businesses and private individuals.
The surgery will provide independent advice on a comprehensive range of tax and general business planning and accounting issues, and comes at a challenging time in the economy when businesses require sound, professional advice.
“We have had a great response to a number of practical tax planning opportunities we have implemented for clients and this surgery will provide a forum to share and explain these ideas,” said managing partner, Jenny Toulson.
“Often, a fresh review of a company’s affairs can help ensure that they are operating in the most tax efficient manner.”
Haines Watts specialise in delivering accountancy and taxation advice to local owner managed businesses by working closely with the owners to make a real difference.
Kate Bradshaw, senior accounts manager, provided an example of some of the practical help and support that will be on offer.
“We recently helped advise a client who had suffered a drop in turnover,” she said.
“We quickly established that they were now able to qualify for the VAT Flat Rate Scheme, which not only simplified the preparation of their quarterly returns but also potentially saved them over £3,000 in VAT each year.”
Nolan Gooch, tax manager covering the Humber area, outlined a successful planning idea to help families pay for university and school fees.
“In certain circumstances, we can assist in creating a structure to enable income used to pay for a child’s private school and university fees to be sheltered against tax,” he said.
“This type of arrangement is proving very effective, particularly in light of the increased level of tuition fees now being charged to students.”
The ‘drop in’ surgery is free to any individual or business who would like some specialist help and advice.
It is being piloted on Wednesday, May 23 in the Grimsby office, at 117-119 Cleethorpe Road, and on Friday, May 25 in the firm’s Scunthorpe office in Arkwright Way.
Anybody interested can simply call in between 9am and 5pm, where a friendly reception and specialist advice will be on hand.
