Fraser has been the managing partner of the Edinburgh office since 2002. He has been instrumental in the growth of the Scottish Haines Watts business through both organically and serial mergers, expanding the office presence into Fife and creating some of the best specialist departments in Scotland.
Fraser's depth of experience comes from over 30 years working with a wide spectrum of business sectors from manufacturing, property to professional firms. He prides himself on spotting opportunities to take businesses to a new level of growth and profit by looking beyond the numbers. By providing financial and strategic advice on the business lifecycle, Fraser has helped create a few millionaires along the way.
After 10 years honing his skills with several practices, Fraser launched his own Edinburgh-based firm Fraser Kerr & Co in 1988. Having managed and grown his own business for over 20 years, he can appreciate the pressures and stresses of modern business both professionally and personally. It is Fraser’s forward-thinking approach to positioning business that has ensured his own success as well as his clients.

Gordon trained with a small firm in Edinburgh and continued there after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1988. His ability to build lasting client relationships resulted in Gordon being made Partner in 1994. The practice then merged with Haines Watts Edinburgh in 1999 where Gordon continues to add value by providing a complete accounting and taxation service to a diverse portfolio of businesses and private clients.

Professor Alex McDougall is Senior Tax Partner at HW Edinburgh and is a Chartered Accountant, a Chartered Tax Adviser, a Registered Trust and Estate Practitioner and an Associate of the Institute of Indirect Taxation. He is based in Edinburgh having joined as a Tax Partner in 1999.
Alex has been a tax practitioner for over 30 years covering direct taxes, estate planning and VAT and deals with a number of compliance and consultancy clients, including a wide range of business and private clients as well as charities and trusts. His work also covers assignments for firms of Accountants and Solicitors, including Expert Witness work.
Alex was admitted to membership of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) in 1974 after training with a CA firm in Edinburgh. He was with what is now a “Big 4” firm for 15 years including 10 as a Tax Partner based in Perth and Edinburgh. Thereafter, before joining Haines Watts, he worked with several national practices and in his own firm. He taught Taxation on a part-time basis at Edinburgh University and at ICAS.
He is a former Convener of the Tax Practices Committee of ICAS, is Convener of its VAT Committee and a member of the Capital Taxes Sub-Committee. He represents ICAS on the Indirect Tax Working Party of the Fédération des Expèrts Comptables Européens. He also represents ICAS on the Residence & Domicile (FA 2008) Stakeholder Group set up by HMRC and the SCIO Working Group set up by the Scottish Government.
He is a past Chairman of the Scotland Branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and is currently a member of the UK Technical Committee and the Disciplinary Panel of STEP. He is a former member of Council. He is a Founder Member of the Scotland Branch.
He is a member of the Technical Committee of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and of its Succession Taxes, CGT and Investment Income and Indirect Tax Sub Committees.
He is a member of a number of other working parties and committees on taxation and related issues. Alex is a frequent speaker on a range of taxation and related topics for a number of course providers and writes on a number of tax issues. He was Scotland Correspondent for Private Client Business until the end of 2007. He is a member of the Tax Faculty of ICAEW and of the VAT Practitioners Group.

Stuart qualified with a 10 partner firm in Sheffield before spending 14 years as Senior Manager and Senior Audit Manager at firms in Edinburgh and Glasgow. For 9 years after that Stuart ran his own practice, Hodgson and Company, before joining HW Edinburgh in 2008 as Partner. Currently, Stuart is managing a diverse portfolio of audit clients with turnovers ranging between £6.5 million and £100 million. Stuart believes that by being pro-active in his approach to the provision of advice to clients they can gain competitive advantage to develop and strengthen their businesses.

Stephen joined Haines Watts this year as Corporate Finance Director based in Edinburgh. He has nearly 30 years experience in the corporate financial sector and has spent most of his career in industry and commerce holding various key Financial Director positions in businesses with turnovers up to £100 million. His executive ability to advise and assist on a diverse range of financial business complexities culminated in his earning the prestigious award of Financial Director of the Year in 2000.
Originally qualifying in 1982 with a big four firm, Stephen quickly gained a wealth of ‘hands on’ experience with major acquisitions, disposals, due diligence and management buyouts. Moreover, he has raised bank funding from the majority of UK banks as well as funding from the private equity sector.
Stephen’s proven financial expertise and astute understanding of the commercial sector ensures he is particularly well-equipped to advise on fast growth companies, turnarounds, corporate restructurings and startups.
On a personal note, Stephen lives in Edinburgh and is married with three children. His interests outside work include football, rugby and golf. He is also an active member of the Merchant Company and Trustee of the Melville College Trust.

Logan Clark qualified at BDO SPICERS in New Zealand in 2006 before joining a leading independent Scottish firm in August 2006. He also worked briefly at the NHS and Bank of Scotland before joining HW Chartered Accountants in 2010. He has hands on experience in valuations, business start-ups, raising finance, due diligence, management buyouts, acquisitions and disposals. Logan’s breadth of skill includes advising clients from business start-ups to stakeholders of national companies.

Graeme is the newest recruit to join Haines Watts in July 2011 after nearly 10 years working with a Chartered Accountancy firm in London's Piccadilly. Prior to his move to London in late 2001, Graeme had worked for two other CA practices in Edinburgh. A qualified Chartered Tax Adviser and member of the Association of Taxation Technicians, Graeme has 15 years 'hands on' tax experience. His areas of expertise include Capital Allowances, OMBs (corporate and non-corporate), Non-UK Residents / Domicile, Investment and Commercial Property.
Graeme has an intuitive understanding of tax planning and takes great satisfaction by helping his clients keep their tax bills as low as possible. His talent lies in identifying existing and new tax-saving opportunities. Graeme's wealth of knowledge and proficiency ensures he has a host of tax efficient solutions that he tailors to the specific needs of his clients.
