Charity Daredevils

It is not every Sunday morning you get up to face the challenge of a lifetime, but that is exactly what HW Berry consultant Gordon Berry and his 73 year old mum, Nancy, faced on the 8th of May.

Sponsored by HW Berry, the two daredevils bravely abseiled 165ft SAS style (i.e. free fall) from the Forth Rail Bridge onto the beach below for the charity Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland. Though it proved a thrilling experience of adrenaline rush and achievement, it is Gordon and his mum’s personal link to the charity that drove them to make the jump.

Gordon told us, “My father took a stroke and lost his speech in 2002. Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland have been incredibly supportive and helpful to my father and my mother from the beginning. We thought we would try and give something back. In total we raised £700 as well as awareness.”

All the money raised goes to Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland’s services – improving the quality of life for people in Scotland affected by chest, heart and stroke illness, through medical research, advice, information, and support in the community. For more information visit www.chss.org.uk
